1.Basic Information
The China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), proposed by H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of China, is a state-level international grand event for economic and trading exchanges and cooperation. It is cosponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and competent ministries of commerce of trade & industry of the 10 ASEAN countries as well as the ASEAN Secretariat, and organized by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, which is held annually in Nanning, Guangxi. Aiming to fuel the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) construction and bring more business opportunities for businesses of both sides, the CAEXPO covers different fields including trade in goods, investment cooperation and trade in services, thus serves as a new platform for China and ASEAN to enhance their bilateral economic and trading cooperation.
The CAEXPO has concluded with success for 5 sessions in a row, totally attracting 12,513 exhibiting enterprises for 16,168 booths, as well as 166,000 individual exhibitors and trade visitors, concluded a total trading volume of USD6.52 billion, and contracted international cooperation projects worth USD28.57 billion.
The 6th CAEXPO will be convened in Nanning, Guangxi from October 20 to 24, 2009.

II.The China-ASEAN Business & Investment Summit(CABIS)
The CABIS(as a concurrent event of the CAEXPO), proposed by H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of China at the 7th China-ASEAN (10↑1) Leaders’ Summit, is the highest-level event of its kind in the business and investment communities of China and ASEAN. The CABIS is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and organized by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
III.The CAEXPO Country of Honor
A mechanism called Country of Honor has been introduced since the 4th CAEXPO in 2007. For each CAEXPO, an ASEAN country acts as the CAEXPO Country of Honor, whose state leader is invited to the event with his/her delegation, to ensure that each CAEXPO will have the attendance of ASEAN state leaders, thus to maintain CAEXPO’s influences in political and diplomatic arenas.
Laos People’s Democratic Republic will be will be the Country of Honor for the upcoming 6th CAEXPO. By then, programs tailored for Laos will be arranged, including the Laos Trade & Investment Promotion.

6.the CAEXPO Host City—Nanning
Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has a history of over 1680 years. There are 6.5 million people living in this city, which covers a total area of 22,112 km2 (urban area: 1,999 km2). Since the day it was chosen as the permanent host city of the CAEXPO, Nanning has become a hub for bilateral exchanges between China and ASEAN.
Thanks to its subtropical monsoon climate, Nanning is blessed with pleasant weather, plentiful sunshine and abundant resources. Reputed as the Green City of China, Nanning is the best place for human inhabitation in the western China. Besides, it has won quiet a few awards, including the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour Award and the Dubai International Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment. It is also One of the Top 10 National Eco-environmental Friendly City. 39.56% of the city is covered by trees or grass, and the public green area for each person is 10.3 m2.
Nanning, a city with long history, rich culture and many beautiful scenic spots, is a renowned tourism city in China, where diversified cultural charms of different ethnic groups are integrating harmoniously. What’s more, the splendid Nanning International Arts Festival of Folk Songs, which is the gala show for the inauguration of each CAEXPO, is annually held here, making the city more attractive.

7.Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center
Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center (NICEC), venue of the CAEXPO, was designed by GMP (Germany) and covers a total area of 850mu (1mu=660m2). Its main building has a total floor area of 152,100m2.
The NICEC, with 14 conference halls/rooms of different sizes, is equipped with advanced sounding facilities, 10+1 simultaneous interpreting systems, video conference systems, broadcasting systems, security systems, computer systems & internet access and a media center, etc., which is an ideal venue for various international conferences, business talks and seminars.
The NICEC has 15 exhibition halls of different sizes (2,150 m2 – 8,100 m2) in its two-floored main building, which can accommodate 3,360 international standard booths, with a total exhibition space up to 48,000 m2.
8.The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat
The CAEXPO Secretariat, the standing organization of the CAEXPO, is responsible for tasks as follows:
* overall planning of the CAEXPO and organizing of major events;
* coordinating the inviting of exhibitor and trade visitor at home and abroad, planning and arranging the CAEXPO exhibition pavilions, taking care of on-site administration and supporting services;
* exhibition hall and booth leasing, advertising & sponsorship, management and commercial operation of CAEXPO’s exclusive brands;
* overall IC design of the CAEXPO and relevant promotion campaigns, etc.
